Questions people ask before choosing

What size vanity fits a small bathroom?

In a small or half bathroom, a 24 to 30 inch vanity usually leaves enough clearance to open the door and move around comfortably. Measure the wall first, then subtract a few inches on each side so the vanity is not pressed against trim or a shower surround. A wall-mounted vanity can make a tight room read larger because the floor stays visible underneath.

Do I need a single or double sink vanity?

Two sinks need width to work. Below about 60 inches the basins sit close enough that two people crowd each other and you lose most of the usable counter space between them. If your wall is narrower than that, a single sink with more counter on one side is usually the more practical choice.

What is the standard bathroom vanity height?

Older vanities were commonly built around 32 inches tall. Most vanities sold today are comfort height, roughly 35 to 36 inches, which suits adults better and matches kitchen counter height. Lower heights are still worth considering in a bathroom used mainly by children.

Freestanding or wall-mounted — which should I choose?

Freestanding vanities sit on the floor, hide the plumbing, and install without needing to locate studs. Wall-mounted vanities float above the floor, which makes cleaning easier and opens up a small room visually, but they need solid blocking in the wall and the drain often has to be moved. If you are not changing the plumbing, freestanding is the simpler path.
